How easy is it to replace the Andersen sliding door latch?

A home owner from South Orange, NJ says:
Looking for this part for my patio doors by Anderson. I believe this room was renovated in the late 70's.

The door handle is fine, it's just the thumb latch that is broken. Appears that the latch piece has broken off. I believe your part 82-043 may be the right one. Is it really as simple as placing the flat post on the inside of the latch into the corresponding slot? (or do I need to replace the hooked mechanism as well?)

Good morning! Andersen has discontinued the style thumb latch you currently have. The updated version of the thumb latch is our 82-043.

Installing the new thumb latch is as simple as making sure the flat tail fits into the corresponding slot of the mortise lock. You shouldn't need to replace the inside mortise lock unless it is not functioning correctly. If you do need to replace the mortise lock and you have a 2 panel sliding patio glass door, see our part 82-037.
