The spiral balances in most of my windows make loud banging noises when I raise the windows. They have come loose a well and I bought a tensioner to replace them. I'm wondering, however, if I should just replace them?
Thanks!

Before buying new ones, I recommend maybe greasing up a few and then charging them with our 75-006 tool to see if that helps.

Thanks. I was wondering if the noise might be 'normal' for this type of window and it sound like it can be. I was concerned that they were damaged on installation because they have always been loud and relatively hard to open. I have that tool and have used it to recharge springs that popped loose. What type of grease is recommended?

Sometimes older balances get a little noisy, it's not uncommon. However, if the noise persists after greasing it, let us know and we can work from there. It's entirely possible that they need replacing, but we should investigate every possibility first.
As for the grease, I would recommend white lithium grease. 3-IN-ONE makes it.
