milgard window balancer 1/2
Looks like you have a certain type of balance that will have to be specially made. We can replace it, but we need you to show us a clear picture of the top and bottom nylon attachment, as well as a clear picture of the metal clip at the end of the cord. Finally, please tell me how many you need. Once I know this information, I'll email you a special order link and price quote.
Hi Tom, we do not want the same balance because is hard to close the windows the springs are new but are so hard that they do not move. What we are interested is on a balance with the same measurement with a light spring where we can close and open the windows and will like to order 4 of the balance if they are available but not the same balance type we have now please. Can you guide us with this situation please. Best Regard, Ashley
Well, sometimes when balances get too old, the spring will become stiff and harder to move. It may seem like a lighter spring will work, but in actuality it may end up being too weak for your window. We usually recommend sticking with the same hardware you have now. Was it always hard to open, or was this something that happened in recent years?
One way to confirm is to get the exact weight of your sash. You can do this by placing it on a scale. If you give us that, we can confirm the best spring strength for you to use.
These springs are precisely calibrated, so it's important we're as accurate as possible. Since these balances have to be specially made, they cannot be returned for a refund. I don't want to send you a balance only for it to end up not working.
Ah, okay. That makes sense then. It's entirely possible that whoever installed these balances just put in whatever they had on hand, because a stamp of 31-6 is way too strong for a sash weighing only 28.8 pounds.
Please give us a little time to calculate the proper spring strength based on your sash weight and I will get back to you as soon as we determine what the option will be. I expect to get back to you today.
Alright! We got everything we need to get started. I've just emailed you an order link and price quote for 4 new balances. These will be using a 31-5 stamp, which can support 27 through 30 pounds. That should be perfect for your sash weight of 28.8 pounds. Let me know if you have any questions.
According to our records, we sent you an email back on the 25th of May. Could it be your spam filter flagged it? I would check to see if you still have it. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll resend it.
I just resent the email. Keep an eye out for it and let me know if you don't receive it.
