milgrad window coil replacement

Home Owner from california
Greetings,

I am in process of replacing my milgrad window coil and need some advice. The window coils broke down on both sides and i had replaced them in 2021. Apart from the coil i dont see any damaged to the pivot shoe or the support. I have used window coil with 9.0 lbs but i am not sure if its the right fit.

How do i check for which coil (lbs) is matching for the window weight ?
how will opting for a heavier lbs coil affect the window functionality ?
although i don't see any damaged on the accessories like pivot shoes and support. is it advised to replace them when changing the coil?

thank you for your help and guidance in advance.

Hello,

Your pivot shoe resembles our 15-191, which works with the Series 160 coil springs. As long as your coil springs are stamped with 9, you would need the S160-09 replacements. The 15-150S is the new-style version of the cover used with this assembly.

If you're unsure if the 9-pound springs are correct, you'll need to weigh the sash. The weight would be divided by the number of coils used on each side to confirm the necessary strength options. Using the incorrect strengths would result in the window either not staying open or being difficult to close. Thanks for posting!
