need a replacement block and tackle for a double hung ( non-tilt) window

only marking on the existing part is 27 1/2 3 aj the metal part measures 28 1/2 inches. I only see 28" and 29" long channels. Do I buy the 29" and cut off 1/2 inch? I need your help

It very much sounds like you have a custom balance. We need to verify that. Could you send us some photos of the balance including the clip at the end of the balance cord?
