new 84-225 latch won't catch

replace broken plastic hook with new part. Looks like exactly same dimensions as old one but new "hook" won't reach far enough into the door jam to catch the plate there

I'm sorry you're having trouble with the 84-225. However, I don't think they make this with a different sized hook. As far as I know, this is the only size. Are you sure the hook is the problem? Could it be you have to re-adjust your door to get the new hook to meet the plate?

Once I replaced the entire handle and latching mechanism with the new parts you sent me (and not just the plastic hook), the hook catches properly. No idea why the old handle with the new plastic hook wouldn't quite reach.
