new track for by pass mirrored closet doors

Question

Trying to replace the bottom track for by pass mirrored closet doors.

I have attached a photo of the current bottom track and the bottom rollers.

Your videos have been very helpful and I believe my type of rollers are called CONCAVE. I also think that the 23-272 track might be able to work for my current rollers. My track needs to be 94" long, so it looks like I would have to put two together to get the length. My old track was installed with a piece of wood that ran just under the middle of the track and allowed the track to have space to put the carpet under. I cannot find the same track and it also looks like I will have to put two together to get the correct length. I am under a time restraint because I have carpet being in stalled on 9/22/23 and I need to know if I need to change the way it is going to be installed.

So my questions are:

Does the 23-272 seem like the right one? If not, do you have a suggestion?

I believe from reading other suggestions that it is ok to cut it and put two together?

Do you have any suggestions about how to install it with the carpet? Put it OVER the carpet? Or have the carpet run to each edge? Which, if that is the case, I need to order part asap.

Thanks for reaching out to us! I agree with your analysis, top to bottom. The track you picked out should work perfectly well and butting two shorter lengths together is the ideal solution.

However, I wouldn't advise you to install this or any track on top of the carpet. I would run the carpet up to the track and then install a type of carpet edger. You should be able to purchase the carpet edger at a local hardware store or home center in your area. Note that if the track is too low then I recommend installing a wood strip below the track to build it up.
