Hi, David.

We can help but I'd like to clarify something before we go any further. You mentioned two different stamps, 24DS and 2490, but can you confirm if these stamped balances are from the same window or from different windows? I will do my best to assist from there.

Thank you!

Thanks for confirming that for me. This makes things a bit difficult since your balances have different stamps. To help us determine the strength rating, we would need you to weigh your sash on a scale and tell us the precise weight. Do you happen to have an identical window in the house? If so, seeing the balances and stamps for that window would be a huge help.

Hi Emily
Weight of the sash is 27.5 lbs = 12.5 kg in total
Please let me know if you need any further information
Kind regards David

Hello, David. Emily isn't here today but I'd be happy to assist you.

So, right now we have some conflicting details. Your sash weight of 27.5 pounds differs from the sash weight indicated by your original stamp, which is 45 pounds. These "DS" stamps (which literally means "Double Spring") are heavy-duty calibrations made to carry a specific weight, indicated by that number on the end. It's odd that the installers would use such a strong spring for such a light window.

Odd, but not unheard of. Sometimes the installers will put in anything they have lying around regardless of whether or not it's correct. Half of my job is correcting such mistakes, honestly. Since you have two different stamps on either side of the window, that sounds like the situation we're in now. Did you ever find that the window was difficult to close before? If so, that may be why.

Either way, if your sash weight is only 27.5 pounds then you can use our 2450 option without issue. This carries 24 through 27 pounds.

I also think you have the S385-25 channel balance, which uses a 19-005 top and 15-004 bottom nylon fitting. As long as their measurements match what you have now then you should be good to go.

Please let me know if you had any questions.
