non-tilt channel stuck at tope of window

Question

Can't remove the channels as they are stuck on both sides at the top of the window. Heard a loud noise like a springs being released. Tried to push channels back down into lower window but no luck. Watched videos on how to fix but can't get channels out measure, look for numbers, etc.

Windows are from 1990-1993 time frame.

Can you help?

Hi Linda, thank you for posting,

It appears that you have a broken top sash guide. When this guide is broken, the channel balance will shoot up past the window sash. Is the balance not moveable at all? Take a look at the video below that details this process.

Let me know if the balances are still stuck after watching the demonstration. We will need to see an undamaged top sash guide if possible to determine a replacement option. Thank you!
