This tends to happen to vinyl windows with a thin handle like this. As it gets older, and as it's used constantly, it will eventually crack. You might be able to use something like our 26-116 or 26-174 handle and mount them to the sash. You will need to cut off what remains of the old lift and drill new holes. You need to be very, very careful not to hit the glass. You may even want the help of a professional, just in case. However, lifts like this don't really face the same problems as your old one.
