If the door doesn't lock properly, it sounds like it could be an issue with the mortise. Your handle may very well be completely fine.

An easy way to check is to remove the handle from the door and then try to throw the mortise lock manually with a screwdriver, or honestly just anything flat that will fit in the slot. If you still have trouble with it, then you've found your problem. I would recommend the 82-218 as a replacement for the mortise.

If it works fine, though, then odds are something is wrong with the handle. Let me know if that's the case and we can figure it out from there, but I would bet that it won't be.
