patio door handle and/or locking mechanism

just bought an apartment with an old patio door. The black bar part of the handle falls off when pulling on the handle, so i was hoping to get a new handle instead of replacing the whole door.

Take the handle off. Squirt some strong glue into the pockets that hold the ends of the wood. Put it back on. Wrap a ribbon or something tightly around the handle till it dries.
