pivot shoe

Home Owner from Maine

The upper sash won't stay up. I know I need a pivot shoe but how do you know if the springs are also bad? The spring number is 405

I have two of these old Certainteed windows that I'm trying to use as replacements for my garage and both top sash's won't stay up.

Thank you, Susan

Hi Susan,

The shoe you have here appears to be an older, discontinued version of the 15-192 CertainTeed Pivot Shoe. To determine if this is the right fit for your window, carefully look over the dimensions below. This shoe has alignments lugs on it; you may need to shave them down to install the shoe in the window. Keep in mind, altered hardware cannot be returned.

To complete your assembly, you'll need the Series 170 to replace the bottom coil and the Series 171 to replace the top coil. Both of them are attached to the shoe using the 33-072 screw. If both coils are stamped with a 405, you'll need the S170-405 and the S171-405. Be sure to double check this before making your purchase.

To replace the covers, you'll need the 15-156 CertainTeed lance Spring Cover and the 15-157 CertainTeed Balance Drum.

Thank you for your help. I've ordered the pivot shoes as mine are the same dimensions.
