pivot shoe installation

Question

Hello - I damaged the old pivot shoe and need to purchase and install a new one.  How do I get it inside the channel?  I found the guide about installing the balance for the tilting window but it didn't cover installing the pivot shoe.

Thanks for posting. See the video below which shows how to remove and replace pivot shoes via what is known as the 'Cutout Method'. This involves cutting a 'cutout' in part of the window jamb so you can access the pivot shoe. Some window jambs have cutouts built in, but in the event yours does not, this is the next best alternative.

If you're not comfortable cutting a hole into your window track, you could instead could consider jamb spreaders such as our 75-069. Let me know what you think.
