pivot shoes not locking when sash is removed

Question

I purchased the coil housing pivot (15-087). When installed, it does not lock in place when the window sash is removed. Are there internal parts missing? If so, what else do I need to buy to make this work? (I have the coil)

Thanks for posting. With the coil spring inside the 15-087 housing, it should work. That is, as long as you are replacing the same type of balance system.

The braking system works by expanding the housing. Hold the 15-087 in your hand and then, with a tilt bar, turn the black cam. You should see the housing spread. That is how it stays in your window. No interior mechanism is required.
