question about the 58-055

I am looking for a different type of seal that I can use to replace the leaf style currently used on my casement window. I am wondering if your product, code 58-055, could help me seal this window better. Can you tell me if it is possible to "weld" two pieces of this seal together by heat or some type of chemical bond? I am hoping this could be done to the ends of this sealing material (when cut at 45 degrees) to form the lower 90 degree corners around the sash.

Kindly let me know if this is possible or if there might even be a better product that I should use.

Replacing one type of weatherstripping for another often doesn't work unless they mount to the sash in the same way. The 58-055 has a kerf-base, whereas most leaf seal snaps into place. I think trying to find a way to combine two different seals together would be incredibly difficult, if not impossible; these are very small pieces you're talking about in terms of cross-section view, so I'm not convinced there's any method that would reliable bind the pieces you want. Moreover however, I wouldn't assume that the bubble seal is better than the leaf seal. The difference in shape has less to do with the quality of the weatherseal than it does just the design of the window sash and what kind of seal it needs. If you simply replace the leaf seal you have with an exact or close match, you may find it will work notably better.
