replace spiral balance (tilt window)

Question

looks like my old balance is 3/8" and the tube is 19 3/8 long (not including blue tip). Can I go with a new balance that's 19" - I don't see any half inch sizes.

That is kind of a peculiar size. There was a time when balance manufacturers made their tubes on the 1/2". Could yours be 19-1/2", instead?

Whether it's 3/8" or 1/2", I think you'll be okay rounding up to the nearest inch. I would go with a 20" long balance, personally.
