replace window balances

Question

Hi - I have two balances from a 29.5" x 32.5" double pane window sash - I'd like to replace them.

One is marked

25 9 AX CMC 1

other is

25 9 EW CMC 1

What is the difference between the AX and EW?

Bottom is as shown in the picture, top is the white angled part that catches on the pullout clip.

I have had balances professionally changed before - I'd like to do it myself but need to find these balances. I'm wondering if they had the right ones in in the first place, this is the only room where the balances aren't working.

There is no major difference between "AX" and "EW." You can ignore those letters. The only thing that matters is "25 9." This stamp is actually outdated, so you will need to weigh your sash to confirm the proper stamp option.

As for what balance will work for you, I will need to see the top attachment o make a suggestion. I can see the bottom attachment in your second photo, but seeing the top attachment will let me be certain of what you need.
