Before I make a recommendation, could you write out the installation hole-to-hole center spacing?

it appears to be 1 7/8 inches

I'm afraid we don't carry a handle set with a 1-7/8" hole center spacing. Can you double check that measurement for me? Take a look at our 40-049 complete mortise lockset. I can't confirm if this will work for you, you'll need to carefully look over our dimensions and compare them to yours to see how they match up.
