replacing deteriorated weatherstripping

Quick Learner from Port Jefferson Station
I have Alcoa single hung vinyl windows that the pile weather stripping at base of window has basically turned to dust.

I have sent pics of the track and a piece of the weather stripping.

Is it possible to replace the weather stripping removing the window?

I know because of the T shaped design that it is meant to slide in during assembly of window but hoping you may have a trick p your sleeve...

Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks for posting, Kevin. I'm not quite sure what type of wool pile you have based on this image. I'll have to know its dimensions. What is the width of the base and the height of the pile?

You may also want to browse through our selection of Replacement Wool Pile and see if you can find one that matches.

You can absolutely try to install your new pile without removing the window. The best way to do that is to gently work it in with a putty knife of some sort.

Tom,

I ordered the 3/16 x 1/4 wool pile, part #58-127, and will try to install using putty knife as you suggested.

Thank you

Kevin
