replacing fine pile weather stripping on Crystal 2000A windows

Home Owner from Brooklyn, NY
I have Crystal 2000A windows. The have fin pile weatherstripping. For the vertical weather stripping, the channels that it goes in are crushed at one point toward one end to secure the weather stripping in place.

What's the recommended procedure for replacing the weather stripping? Should I bend the crushed part open, and then bend it beck when I'm done?

Hello,

We'd be happy to help you identify your weatherstripping, but we'll need to see a side profile picture in order to make a good recommendation. Thank you!

I wasn't asking for identification. I would like to know how to replace weather stripping when the channel has been compressed by the manufacturer as pictured.

Sorry for the confusion! You could uncrimp the channel, yes. You can then recrimp it once you've replaced the seal. You could also cut a small opening at the end of the channel, but then the weatherstripping has a risk of falling out. I'm afraid there's no real trick to it; the manufacturer basically made this window assuming, wrongly, that it'd never have to be repaired.
