replacing four (4) 31in channel balances (9/16in)

Question

I need to replace four (4) 31in. channel balances (9/16in) for my non-tilt sash windows. The stamped code reads as 30DS 35. I am assuming the 35 represents the sash weight which seems about right.

Please could you verify which of 3030 or 3040 would be best to select when ordering. I do not have scales to check.

The sashes are double-glazed hurricane resistant.

Hello,

It looks like both the top and bottom attachments on your balance have wings. If so, you could have either an S380-31 or S385-31 channel balance. You’ll need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom attachment, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" attachment. For a 35-pound window sash, you would need 3060 spring strength options for your replacement balances.

That being said, I would recommend weighing your sash to confirm the correct option. There is a chart on the balance product page that explains how to choose your option based on the sash weight.
