replacment part to a skylight

Hello, im looking for the a replacement part to a skylight. The mechanism to lift and lower the glass was originally missing the part that you twist or spin to operate it. Ill send pics. Please let me know if i can just replace the smaller part or if the whole thing is necessary. Thank you for your time.
