Hi Rob. I had a colleague double-check with me to be safe, and to our eyes the 39-187 and 39-188 are the right choice in terms of the shape of the gear arm. Now, as far as your link arm being 4" instead of 5", there are a few possible solutions here. First, it's quite possible that the operator will work just fine with this shorter arm. We've had a few customers report this, and thus its worth installing the new hardware to see if you can get away with the one-to-one replacement. If this doesn't work, you could then try moving the bracket to which the link arm attaches over until it is at the appropriate position. The last option is to drill out the link arm on the old and new operator, then place the old link arm on the new operator with our 62-014 rivet. Let us know what you think. 

The proper way to install the 62-014 rivet is to place the elbow of the operator arm on a metal plate and then hammer the rivet flat. The goal is to get the thin end to "mushroom" out.
