sash weight - selecting a balance

A quick learner from Oregon says:
What would be the result of selecting a balance rated for a heavier sash? For example, what if I am replacing a pair labeled 26 4, which I understand to mean sash weight from 19 to 26 and requires stamp 2640, but choose instead stamp 2650, rated for 26 to 30. Would the sash still raise? Would it be harder to close? Would it take longer for the balance to fail, that is, would it last longer? Windows only seven years old are failing.

Tom from SWISCO responded:
The sash will still raise, but it will be harder to close. In some cases, the window will drift up on its own. It won't necessarily last longer, either. In our opinion, there's no reason to go stronger. Think of it like Goldilocks' porridge. You don't want it to be too strong or too weak, but just right.
