second door lock

A quick learner from Arizona says:
I'm trying to add a secondary door lock to my patio doors. I don't think we have a threshold that would support the bolt, so I'm considering turning the bolt horizontal, overhanging the edge by about 3/4", and using a secondary keeper to gain another 1/4".
(The gap between my stationary and rolling door is 1-1/8".)

Would that work? I can't see how to point the bolt downwards.

To be honest with you, I'm old school: I like to use something like our 80-006 security bar lock on patio doors. However, looking at your photos, you might be able to install either the 82-040 or the 82-051 on the lower face of your active door. You might be able to use one of the keepers I've related to this discussion, along with a piece of wood on the floor to build up the keeper. I can't be sure these parts will work but I think they're worth considering.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to try the 82-040 on one of the doors and see how it works.
