separated worm gear

Question

Hello,

The worm gear that turns the cogs to open/close the window has become dislodged from its base. I see that there are matching grooves on the side of the worm gear housing and the internal aspect of the base. Can these two parts be put back together again by applying force to the worm gear to reseat it into its base? I am assuming that the crank was forced while the casement window was locked which resulted in the worm gear dislodging from its base. If it is possible to reseat the worm gear, what is involved to do that? Thank you.

Hey there,

Thanks for posting! I'm sorry to say you would not be able to install the worm gear back into the operator base. It gets installed by machine and the replacements are not sold separately. When this becomes dislodged the operator almost always needs to be replaced.

I'm happy to identify the replacement you need for the operator but I'll need to see a photo of the entire mechanism to determine the exact replacement you need. In addition to this photo of the base, may I see a photo of the arm(s) and how the operator attaches to the bottom of the swinging sash.
