series 870 patio door- lock/latch plate

A home owner from Portland, Oregon says:

Hello! I have seen several queries about the Series 870 patio door mechanism, presumably an old Philips door, originally marketed for manufactured homes. As far as I can tell, my question is unique- which is, I am looking for the latch/lock plate that goes in the door jamb area.

A while ago, I purchased what I thought, from the description from the supplier (whom shall remain nameless, but it was definitely not Swisco who I just discovered), was a handle kit that would have the lock plate as well.

Alas, it did not, and I was stuck with hardware I didn't need. When I contacted window companies in the area, they said I would probably have to replace the whole door and frame which is madness. Either they are lazy or they wanted to sell me something.

So. Attached are images of what I have, which match many of the other photos other customers have provided. But I have yet seen a solution for the door frame latch.

What can I buy that would take care of this? If I need to buy a whole new handle and lock kit, I would be fine with that *if I had the lock plate that is needed to secure the door*.

Can you help me?

Thanks for posting! Sounds like you need the keeper. Take a look at our 89-041. I measured the hole spacing and they appear to match your 1-1/4", on height. The hole centers on width are 1". See if your holes match up to this. My only concern is the depth of the original keeper. The 89-041 depth is 13/16", but we also have the 89-029 with a depth of 19/32". I'm not sure which one will work on your door. I'm leaning towards the 89-041, but I could be wrong.

Ahhh- so it is a 'keeper', good to know. Thanks so much Dave! I'll measure and decide which might be the one to go with.

Appreciate it!
