sgd lock

Home Owner from Portland Oregon
Hi there,
I am selling my condo and the buyers want a latch that doesn't require undue finesse to lock. The label on the jamb says SGD-LC25-96x96 AND SGD-C30-96x82. (Images attached).

Can you direct me to the appropriate replacement handle and latch set I need? Thanks!

We can direct you, but we do need to see the handle. Can you send photos of both sides of it?

Hi,

I can go to the property and take a photo of the latch that is on the door now but it's just a latch I bought at Home Depot and installed myself. There are three holes drilled in the door. From the bottom hole up, the span is 3-3/4" and 5-1/2" so two different sizes of latch have been installed in the door over the years.

Apparently the maker of the door was a company that went out of business years ago, from what my realtor tells me. Let me know if you still need photos...

Thank you!

Photos are your best bet.

The reason you are seeing holes at 3-3/4"(more likely 3-15/16") and 5-1/2" is because the door was made to be reversible. You will use either the 1st and 3rd - or - 2nd and 4th, NOT 1st and 4th.

professional from CA - there are only 3 holes...I think the previous owner just drilled a third hole to accommodate a random handle. I don't know...

Here are photos of the door and the hardware. Thank you for whatever advice you can give me!

Thank you! I think our 82-069 can work as a replacement handle set. That may not be the problem though. All you may need to do is adjust it. First, check the door rollers and see if they can be adjusted to set it more evenly in the frame. Also make sure you patio door is plumb to side jamb when closed. You can also adjust the mortise lock hook to stick further out or in, you just need to turn that tiny screw on its face one way or the other. Lastly, you might need to adjust the keeper in the jamb up or down.

If this adjustments do not solve the problem then your mortise lock itself could be worn. Look at the 82-218 to see if it matches up to yours. As for that random hole in the door, take a look at 67-019 plug. This could help you cover up that hole.
