single-hung vinyl window fails to stay in place when partly opened

This Betterbilt window was installed in 2004 (approx). it is a single-hung vinyl window.

It fails to stay in position when partially opened.

ideas? part numbers?

any help would be appreciated. Charles

We should be able to assist with a new coil balance system, but to further review, we will need to see the window sash removed where we can see the style of the pivot shoe that the coil spring attaches to. From there we can confirm the correct series for your window. Thank you!

It appears that the channel may have a cut-out to remove the pivot shoe. still uncertain as to the cause of the difficulty.

There appears to be damage to the balance assembly. Please review the style and dimensions of the 15-180 pivot shoe that is compatible with the Series 190 coil springs.

The original spring should have a number stamped into the metal that indicates the weighted option needed. If there are no markings, we will need to know the weight of the window sash to move forward. Also see the 15-182 balance bushing and 15-186 balance clip.
