sliding door latch

Quick Learner from Charleston, SC
Good morning,

I need a latch and handles for a sliding glass door. the broken latch fell inside the sliding glass door when it was being removed. The space the latch goes in to is 1/2" wide by 3" in height, while the screw holes are 3 5/8" center-to-center.

The handle mounting screws are 3 15/16 " center to center, and the thicknes of the door is 2 1/2 ".

I do not the know the manufacturuer of the door but it is not a high-end door. Thanks, Bo

Thanks for posting. The door handle appears similar to our 82-035, but I'm less certain about the mortise lock. Could it be our 82-218? Its hole spacing is 3-11/16", though, not 3-5/8". Double check your measurements and see if you could get it to work.

Thanks for the reply. I ordered and received mortise latch #82-218 and handle #82-069. The handle is a perfect fit. I had to slightly modify the door to install the latch, and the latch still does not mount flush, nor does it appear that it was designed too. This means the door does close at tight as it should (maybe 1/16 is lacking) but it does lock. In modifying the door, I determined that it is a very low quality door, and will have to purchase some other type of secure lock mechanism for the slider.

Make sure they understand that the latch can be adjusted.
I don't quite understand the problem, but normally that is a very secure lock.
