Hello,

Your Unique balances are no longer available but we can supply spiral balances that will work in their place. Since the replacements are made to support a specific weight instead of the range indicated by your stamp code, we will need you to confirm the exact weight of your window sash down to the ounce. We'll also need to know the number of balances that you need, with the minimum being two. Thank you!

As specified per the picture, the spiral supports 60.0-70.0 pounds. I will need to order two and if they fit properly then I'll be ordering additional units.

Thanks for getting back to us. As we mentioned, our replacement balances are calibrated to support a specific weight instead of the 60-70 pound range indicated by your stamp. For that reason, we will need to know the exact weight of the sash in order to move forward.

How can I measure specific weight?

You'll need to detach the balances so that there is no tension supporting the sash and place it on a scale to determine the exact weight. You can use a standard bathroom scale.

Place on a scale spring, not the window?

The part that you need to weigh is the sash that the window supports, which is the frame piece of glass that you raise and lower. Ideally, you would become the sash from the window frame and place it on a scale. If you are not able to remove the sash, you can also detach the balance spirals from the sash on both sides and put the scale on the window sill before carefully lowing the sash onto it. It's not ideal but you should be able to get the weight that we need that way.
