storm window latch

Question

Friends,

I'm trying to replace storm window latches (right and left hand) as shown in the attached photo.

The horizontal bar, which is pushed out by a spring, has broken off at the end where it should engage a hole in the stormwindow frame--see the arrow on the photo.

The bar stock is 1/4 wide and 3/16 thick.

It would be fine to use another part that works more or less the same way.
