storm window latch

Contractor from Virginia
Hello,

We are working with a client to repair (if possible) some old storm windows. Most of the latches are broken and missing but I did find two that were still operational. Do you have any idea of replacement parts?

Sincerely,
Steve

Hello,

I have not come across this style of storm window latch in years. Back in the 1970s, we would remove these types of storm windows to install the newer style triple track type system, but I believe they are no longer available. I would suggest trying older hardware stores or glass shops in your area that might have backstock of some of these parts lying around. I'm sorry that we won't be able to assist with this repair but please let us know if you have any other hardware questions. Thanks for posting.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the reply. We do happen to have one of those old time hardware stores in our area but with the number of windows needing parts, if they had some, we would likely clean them out and still need more.

Thanks,
Steve

One other idea comes to mind. If you have some of the broken parts around the house, you might be able to repair the latches with some springs and pop rivets. Good luck!

Good idea but our client just purchased the house so all of the old broken pieces are long gone.

That's unfortunate. I'm sorry that we won't be able to offer an alternate replacement at this time.
