threshold

Question

this is a threshold on a set of double doors out to a patio in a 1975 condo. I cant tell if there is supposed to be an insert for this threshold. There is an groove on each side (only one side shown) but the groove on the outer side is not as wide as the inside facing groove. Any ideas? Need to do something to seal the door bottom. thanks. r lamberson

In some cases, this type of threshold might have a type of weather stripping that go into the groove. I'm not sure what to recommend in your case, though. Most of the time this weather stripping is not available by itself, requiring one to replace the complete threshold. You could possibly use some type of silicone caulk, or you may need to install some type of sweep on the bottom of the door like the 58-176. I'm sorry we cannot offer a more reliable solution.
