tip color

Question

Hi,
We live in an old apartment building with aluminum tilt windows, and want to replace the old spiral balances.

I see red tips on the current units but the window weighs 38lbs (it's quite large).
To achieve balance I have to charge the springs with 8 turns.

Should I replace with like (red tip) or order black tip (which seems appropriate according to your weight chart?

Hi there, Rob.

We always recommend sticking with the sash weight since that's pretty reliable. If the sash weight falls within the range the black tip supports then that's what you would want to go with. I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions!
