track on wardrobe

I need to replace the track and rollers on a freestanding wardrobe. The opening is 45 3/4" wide. The doors are 3/8" thick - and not close to 60 pounds. The 23-500 seems like it would work, but the track is slightly too long. Can the track be trimmed? If so, what do you recommend for trimming? ~thank you!
