upper sash of double hung window stuck

Quick Learner from Naples,FL
I don't know weather I need a part or not. I have a double hung window that has no markings of brand or model and the top sash won't budge, as if it's locked. It's obvious both sashes of the window is designed to tilt out for cleaning. Do you think there is a secret lock or maybe a broken part inside the sash?
Thanks, Jerry

Thank you for reaching out to us, Jerry. There could be quite a few reasons as to why your top sash is stuck. It's possible it could be dirt or debris clogging the track, a broken shoe, or a broken balance. The frame could also be warped or painted shut.

It seems like it is loose because I can move it down a little bit. Do top sashes sometimes have a lock or something?

Top sashes sometimes have sash locks, but not always. We can't really determine the cause from this information, unfortunately. You may want to contact a local professional for assistance.
