The tip of the old balance looks white? Length is 31 in 5/8. Weight of sash is 26.5
Will the blue tip last longer than the red (or am i being too picky)

Many thanks for writing us. People have moved up to the blue tip because they feel it will have a longer life than red. You can't go wrong with either color. We do suggest the 75-006 charging tool to make the installation easier for you.
