which spiral balance to buy

I have a sprial balance replacement question. Using your site I found that we have a 3/8" x 28" long spiral balance. When I went to buy I had to pick a color tip. The site only shows a red and a green.
The ones we have are white. Will the Red work?

Hi Dave,

We need to know the balance series you are looking at.
We also need the weight of the window sash, this will determine what strength balance you will need.

To get the weight of the window sash, please remove the window sash and place it on a scale to get the weight in pounds.

I was looking at the 900 series.

The window weight is 15lbs.

The 29" Series 900 Balance with

Red Tip option will carry a window sash weight range of 10 through and including 22 pounds.

Green Tip option will carry a window sash weight range of 14 through and including 26 pounds.

For a 15 pound sash I would recommend going with the Red Tip option.

This information is based on 2 balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate.
