width of 58-173 weatherstripping

Question

My exterior metal door has gaps 1/8" from age and miss-use of the years. A regular 1/2 strip does not fill the gap. When applied how wide is the strip that would seal the door.

The long flap on the 58-173 is 3/4" long. Would that be sufficient to cover the gap in your door?
