will 83-040 work as a replacement

I have taken the measurements of my latch and they appear to be the same as this replacement, and the outside piece appears the same as my latch as well. I am not sure about the inside piece. This piece has tabs and mine does not, and mine also has slightly more to the inside piece after the screws. Will this latch work as a replacement?

The 83-040 will not work for you. As you pointed out, the interior handle is too different in design. The bad news is that we don't have another handle with a 2-9/16" hole spacing. Can you confirm that measurement on your part?
