window balance

Question

Need a replacement window balance for leaded vinyl window. Window is heavy. Stamp on current balance is 2690 30. Balance is 27 inches long and 9/16 (1/2)" wide.

You don't have a 2690 30 so, which balance should I order from you?

Thanks for writing in. This looks like either a S380-27 or S385-27. The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe, so compare both with your old hardware to see what matches best. Your stamp code of 2690 is from an older rating system we no longer use. We recommend you weigh your window sash. You can then match that exact weight with one of the weight ranges listed alongside each stamp option on the product page.
