window balance
I did some research, I did some pictures, I've tried to measure the balances. As far as I understand I have 4 pieces that are 39 inches long, 3 pieces that are 41 inches long,
and two pieces that are approximately 40 inches (those thicker springs) But the plastic tubes are broken so I'm not sure how I supposed to measure them correctly. They are 5/8 inches thick.
Hello,
Thanks for reaching out to us! The balances you have are the Series 500 non-tilt spiral balance. Given the lengths you've confirmed, you'll need the S500-39 and the S500-41. You can use the 17-012 Bracket, #32 to replace your existing bracket.
The tip colors your balances are white, red, yellow, and black. Typically the red tip option is recommended to replace the white tips and you may be able to use the black to replace the yellow. Although, to be safe, it might be best to obtain the exact weight for each sash these balances would be installed in and then move from there.
For both of these balance lengths the red tip options will support 12 to 30lbs and the black tip options will support 31 to 40lbs.
thank you for your help,
i just would like to ask about these thicker ones, like springs?
I'm happy to help! The balances are essentially the same, the difference is just that your balances have a plastic tube and ours have a metal tube. Since your plastic tube is 5/8", the Series 500 balances would be the equivalent.
Regarding the bracket, you balance is all one piece, however since your exact balance is no longer available, you'll need the 17-012 to use in place of your existing bracket.
I hope this helps!
