window balance

A home owner from washington mo says:
I believe I need the 30" 770 series balance. My question is when I removed the old balance it was held in by a clip with a hole in top of balance. The one pictured has some type of plastic fitting. Can I remove the plastic and drill hole or does it remove? Also what are the tricks to getting the window back in place when it is under pressure from the balance?

The top of our S770-30 balance has a screw tab. The nylon fitting you see is to prevent the channel from collapsing when you tighten the screw. I pulled up a media guide to help you with installation. You can see it on the right side of this page.
