window balance coil replacement

A quick learner from Punta Gorda FL says:
I have some windows that have suffered from a balance coil component failure specifically the nylon bushing that supports the rods on the bottom of the lower window sash and need to order the correct parts to repair the windows. Any information regarding removal, installation and correct part identification would be very helpful. It appears that I have triple balance coils but have not ever encountered them before.

Hello,

If you have Certainteed windows, take a look and compare the 15-192 pivot shoe to yours, which uses the Series 170 and Series 171 coil springs.

If you have Simonton windows, see our video below that shows the hardware we recommend to replace the assembly since the dimensions of the 15-192 do not match the shoe used by Simonton as well as Certainteed's hardware.

Either of these assemblies can use three stacked coils if needed. We'll relate more videos on this page to assist you. Thanks for posting!
