window balances are 'sprung'

A handy person from monmouth county, NJ says:

1. very small aluminum double hung windows - double glazed (approx.2'x2'+), have 2 of them - existing tubular balances are "sprung".

2. I know the tube is approx. 14" long , however I am not sure what "color tip" to get. And am not sure of diameter....*** could use a bit of advice.

Thanks for contacting us. This is definitely a type of spiral balance, but I cannot narrow it down further than that. Is this a tilt window, or non-tilt?

If this is a tilt window then you have either our Series 600 (5/8" or 9/16" diameter) or Series 900 (3/8" diameter). You'll have to remove the balance and measure the diameter to confirm the best match.

If you cannot make out the color of your tip, then you'll have to remove your sash from the window and place it on a scale. All of our spiral balance store pages have a chart that you can use to match your weight with a tip color.
