window maintenance

Purchased 700 series spiral balance single-hung windows at Home Depot around 2010 -2013. Thought they were manufactured by Anderson but there was no identification except a sticker with the markings Serious 700 & MST: 4452. Google brought me to Swisco Inc. with the exact definition of the window-Apparently SWISCO doesn't manufacture this window, but it looks as if you sell the parts of 3/16" x 11/32" Bubble insulation which I will purchase in the future. If you could tell me the size of the pile weather seal that goes on the sides of the window, I will purchase that as well- and what is the best lubricant to use on these windows? Years ago, I worked for my brother's shutter company and would clean and lubricate accordion and roll down shutters with LC Wax. Would LC Wax work here or not? Thank you for your time & look forward to hearing from you & hope you had a relaxing Memorial Day Sincerely, Jerry

Hi Jerry, thank you for posting,

Unfortunately we are not able to cross reference the window to determine which size of pile weatherstripping to use. To move forward, a piece of the original will need to be removed. From there please provide written out dimensions of the width of the base and height of the pile.

For spiral balances, we recommend coating the inside spiral with white grease. Give that a try and see how they function after. You may also want to lubricate the jamb track in which the spiral balances are installed with silicone spray.
