window sash tension springs

Question

We have an old victorian with double hung windows, most of which do not have any sash weights anymore. Most windows weigh between 7 and 12 pounds. Will the tension springs work for keeping them open and in place? Do I need any special spring for different windows? Do I need 2 springs per window? Thanks.

I believe that the 20-001 Wood Window Sash Tension Springs should work. Take a look at them and see what you think. I would start with one, and if that doesn't work then two should.
