window too heavy to lift

Question

I have replacement windows. I am having  aproblem. I see a veritcal metal strap on the left side going to the top of the window that I don't see on the right side which explains why I have trouble lifting it. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

It sounds like you could have worn out coil balances but we can't be sure without seeing it. Look over the related videos and information on coil balances to assist you.
